Death
Is it the end or a new beginning?
Is it a cause for joy or sorrow?
Is it separation or reunion?
Is it tyrant or liberator?
Is it exciting or not?
It all depends !!!

Creator and builder.
Part of a prayer from an Orthodox Syrian liturgy:
“Creator of the soul and Builder of the body”.
This implies, at least to my understanding,
That the soul is created out of nothing,
While the body is made of existing mater.
Biblically, the human body is made out of soil.
Scientifically, it is the result of evolution.
Either way it is not created out of nothing.
What is created in the image and likeness of God
Is the human soul, not the human body.

Conversion
Conversion is a change in life-style
From living for wealth to living for God
From the wrong direction to the right
From the material to the spiritual
From selfishness to selflessness
From meanness to generosity
From negativity to positive
From indifference to love
From pride to humility
From bad to good
From no to yes.

Jeevan Gamaya Ever since I first heard the
Upanishadic hymn beginning ‘Asatho ma sat gamaya’, I
was fascinated by it. I have come across many translations and interpretations
of this with different meanings especially for the first line. These
grand words describe some of the epochs of creation. The term sat
could mean being, existence, matter, or even goodness but not truth
as some would have it; asat being its antithesis. Thus the first
line could be understood as: |
| |
“Let something come from nothing”, “Let non-existence
give way to existence”, “Let there be matter in place
of emptiness”.
Or simply, ‘fiat’ - ‘let it be’. |
| |
However you interpret it, the first line signifies the first step
in creation, the creation of the primordial matter out of nothing,
which triggered off the cosmic evolution. |
| |
The early phase of this evolution, today known as inflation, had
gone on for a few millennia before the radiation era started. This
was the second stage of creation, “Let there be light”
represented in the second line, “thamaso ma jyothir gamaya”
meaning, ‘let darkness be replaced by light’ |
| |
Here I wish there was a third line before the last one, something
like, “dravyo ma jeevan gamaya” Meaning, ‘let life
come out of matter’.signifying the creation of life out of nonliving
matter. |
| |
Then the last line in the original hymn, “mrithyor ma amritham
gamaya”, would take special significance as the creation of
the immortal spirit in mortal living beings. Then the hymn would be
describing the creation of matter, light, life and the spirit. |

Evangelization
If you know the secret to a happy
life,
If you know how to make heaven on earth,
Would you not share it with those whom you love?
Those you love must include all you come across.
Through the gospel, Jesus has given us this secret,
The secret of the power of love to make heaven.
If you practice his teachings in your life
And enjoy heavenly peace and happiness here
You are living the gospel of Jesus.
People would want to know your secret
And you can show them or tell them
That the kingdom of God is within reach
That selfless love and child-like trust
In God’s providence is the key to the kingdom.
That is the best form of evangelization
